Easy to install
Fiat 500 key covers are an easy way to freshen up your car keys. They come in a range of styles and colors, so you can find the right one that matches your personality. Installing them yourself is in ten minutes. You will need a screwdriver as well as some patience. The first step is removing the cover that was originally installed. This needs to be removed before the new cover can be fitted.
After you have removed the old cover, use a flathead screwdriver to pry out the four major attachment clips located on the passenger side of the fob assembly. They are marked in red on the photo below. Note the yellow locating tabs that need to be removed.
Replace the old battery with a # CR2032 coin cell battery. The "+" side of the battery should be facing the fob's opening, and the "side that is "-" side should be facing the buttons made of rubber.
Attach the mirror cover to the passenger side by aligning the locating tabs. After you've completed this, put the fob that is on the driver's side back in your vehicle and test it by pressing the push button on the front of the car key. If everything is working properly the parking lights will be turned on and the doors will lock.
Easy to remove

This is done by pressing the red "Fiat" button located on the front of your key fob. After pressing the button the lever will be released which allows you to slide out the ignition switch made of steel (1). After removing the metal key, you'll be able to see an elongated silver switch that has images of a locked and unlocked padlock on top of it. This is the battery switch on the key fob. The battery is easy to replace by turning the switch a quarter turn using a tiny screwdriver with a flat head.
The key fob contains the microchip that connects to the Body Control Module. When you insert the key in your Fiat car, it presses a button on the ignition switch, which acts as an "key-in-ignition" reminder. The BCM will then be capable of reading the transponder inside the key fob to verify that it's genuine.
You can also add a sport design twin pack to your key covers to give it an unique and funky appearance. These covers snap on top of your original cover. They are available in Cream or silver. The key cover works only if you remove the black cover from the key fob.
